Millennium Development Goals

The purpose of this blog is to give an overview of the MDGs.
As I see them, they are consistent with the general direction
set by the Millennium Vision [see global-network.blogspot.com]
They were set by the UN in 2000.

The goals are:

1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.
2. Achieve universal primary education.
3. Promote gender equality and empower women.
4. Reduce child mortality.
5. Improve maternal health.
6. Combat HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases.
7. Ensure environmental sustainability,
8. Develop a global partnership for development.

These are general goals. I have set up separate blogs
for each goal that also identify the more specific targets for
each goal and provide a way for organizing our comments
in relation to each goal and its target(s).

To identify the specific Blog for each of the MDGs and their targets, go to my profile (click re seeing complete profile at bottom of profile to right) and click on the MDG(s) you are interested in. Then make one or more comments as the spirit moves you. [Please remember the guidelines for "dialogue" and "skillful discussion." And avoid "debate" or "argument" -- that is, arguing that your views are "right" and others' views are "wrong." Simply expressing your view(s)helps the dialogue flow. Saying something like "I see it differently" is okay, too.]
